Can you make a Story Map tool?

Hakan,

I'm looking forward to trying your Kanban tool when I can convince the boss that we can jettison Rally.  In the meantime I think I'd really like to have a tool, that's probably similar in design, for managing my story backlog.

Basically I think Jeff Patton describes it very well here: http://agileproductdesign.com/writing/how_you_slice_it.pdf and here http://www.agileproductdesign.com/downloads/patton_user_story_mapping.ppt.

Would such a thing be possible?

Thanks,

Hi Dan,

Visual WIP is a primary a visualization tool. Visual WIP are not currently buildt for high interaction in the tool. Editing of the story cards are done in source system. The current version only support pulling the story cards from TFS but it is not too much work to build a provider for Rally. Visualizing the Story Map should not be a problem. You can already do that with the current version.

Add a column for every activity story card

Add a column for all the task story cards for the activity story card, or add the task story cards as child tasks and use the same column as above.

Arrange the columns in a time line using as many monitor you need.

Okay, that sounds straightforward.    I'll give it a try.  Thanks!  -Dan

With the source code changeset 9880 you can add up to 1000 objects on a free form zoomable and pannable surface. You can also add seperate work items to the surface and not just queries. This would make it easy to build a story map with Visual WIP.
